Himachal created a National Record by organizing a Half-Marathon at an altitude of 10050 ft 

Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh on 10 August 2013 created a national record by organizing a 21 kilometer long Half Marathon at the height of 10050 feet at Keylong. A total of 261 sportsmen from Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Army participated in the event. The event was orgainsed with an aim of providing an exposure and platform at the national level to the youth living at high altitude.

The 21 kilometer long Half Marathon was won by Baljinder Singh from Punjab, who covered the distance in 19 minute and 26 seconds. Whereas, in the women's category Reeta Kumari was declared winner, who covered the distance in one hour 36 minutes and 2 seconds. The two districts have planned to make the Half Marathon an annual event and will be organised during, the Tribal Festival.

Keylong
Keylong is the administrative centre of the Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. It is located at a distance of 126 km from Manali and 120 km from the Indo-Tibetan border on Manali-Leh Highway. It lies on the banks of Bhaga River.
